Excellent food and service. Got the pho and fried pork belly. It was delicious and the service was fast. Can't complain
This place is a Northern Vietnamese style cuisine restaurant. It is fairly spacious but the smaller tables seemed more squished and I felt too close to the next table. Service was good, prices were reasonable and food came out quick. Overall, food was pretty good! For starters, the Nem Cua Bể (crabmeat spring rolls) were tasty and the spring rolls were full of meat! Would recommend the Bún Chả Hà Nội (grilled pork and meatballs with vermicelli) and Bánh Cuốn Chả Lụa (steamed rice rolls with pork)--both decent portions and delicious! Their fish sauce is on the bland side, I would have liked it more saltier. The Bánh Mì Bò Né (steak with bread) was just okay--the steak flavoring was good but the meat was too overcooked so it was tough and dry, and the patê was very salty. I would have to come back to try their other dishes!
I wanted to update my initial review since I have been to Hello Vietnam many times past the soft opening and the restaurant has definitely improved from my first initial visits. The menu has expanded, the owner has invested in more high chairs that are fully functioning and the quality of the food has exceeded my expectations every visit. If I am craving Vietnamese food, Hello Vietnam has been my go to :)
Ok, this is embarrassing - I've had delivery from Hello Vietnam three times and three times I've failed to write a review. Not this time. I can only rate them 5 stars - but I owe them 15. 5 for each visit! If you are looking for a great Vietnamese place - look no further We've had pho, vermicelli bowls, rice bowl, bahn mi, and the summer rolls. All have been outstanding. The Lemongrass chicken has been perfect each time, and every dish is packed with flavors. And - the amount of meat contained in each order is tremendous. There is no cutting corners here. The peanut sauce with the summer rolls is so e of the best we have had in the DMV. In fact, the only one I've had better in the last year has been in Singapore. Not only is the food great, but they clearly take care in preparing for delivery. Everything is package tightly, with each side of sauce carefully placed with the respective main. Already salivating for another order... Wait - I still have some leftovers.....
(4.25) ~ Very good Overall food & Service DRNKS: ** Avocado Smoothie = (4.25) Very good ** Cafe Sua Da (iced Vietnamese coffee) = (4) very good ** Water (tap) = (4) very good, must be filtered;) FOOD: ** (A1) Summer Rolls (w. sesame sauce) = (4.25) Very good ** (H8) Banh Mi Bo Ne = (4) very good, but I like (BM7) more;)
We came back for another round of good Vietnamese food! This time we tried the Crispy Pork with Rice, Crispy Pork Vermicelli, Grilled Shrimp Spring Rolls and Steamed Rice Rolls with Grilled Meat. The crispy pork is a must get. They're actually crispy and the pieces and portion are plenty. They upgraded to iPad ordering now so service was super quick. I love that they have lots of Vietnamese dishes to select from and we will have to come back again and try other new dishes!
Today I returned to Hello Vietnam, I got the pho with brisket which was good. But I wanted to try the Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi with pate and this time I certainly tasted the pate which was absolutely delicious! Thanks to the owner, Luc who made good on his promise to make it happen. I would definitely return to try the other items on the menu.
Nice, open, large dining room with friendly and attentive service and solid fare. The pho was good but seemed to have some MSG and I was quite thirsty after. Not the cleanest of broths. The meat, tendon, tripe, and meatballs were good quality and tasty. We also tried the steamed rice noodles with ground pork, with a side of pork meatballs, which are more plain. The spring roll was tasty but not with the traditional rice wrapper, but a wonton wrapper.
I've been trying to come here for a while, however I always end up coming when they're closed on Mondays. Today I made it! The restaurant is spacious, clean, and very welcoming. The staff were friendly and very helpful whenever we had any questions or if I wanted to add more to my meal. For our appetizer we got the nem cua be, which was very filling but i didn't taste or see any crab in it. I think I could have just preferred the regular nem ran, because the filling was basically the same. I came here to try the banh chon cha lua, because it is one of my favorite dishes to eat. The banh cuon were so fresh and soft and were not overfilled with the pork/mushroom filling. It came with some fresh veggies, herbs, big bowl of nuoc cham (fish sauce), and a lot of cha lua. I appreciate the portions and and everything tastes, so much that I no longer have the need to go to Eden Center for this dish. We also got an order of the thit quay, which was cooked and cut into perfect sizes for me. Im a bit particular about thit quay, but I wouldn't mind getting this dish again. Can't wait until their bo ne is available! For drinks, we got a mango smoothie and an iced Vietnamese coffee. Both drinks were really good, however I prefer a thicker smoothie.
